Eller Beck Court: Extra Care in Skipton

St Stephen’s Parish is celebrating the opening of a new development in the grounds of the former St Monica’s Convent.

The show home is now available to view in Eller Beck Court – just one of the 58 high-quality one- and two-bedroomed flats for social rent and shared ownership specially designed for older people.

The complex is an ‘extra care scheme’, providing independent living with optional on-site care. Working with the Parish, Catholic Care and Diocese of Leeds Property Office has been the developer Housing 21, a not-for-profit provider of affordable retirement homes for older people who may need care, including dementia care.

Parish Priest Mgr Andrew Summersgill said, ‘It’s taken several years to get to where we are now, and developing good partnerships and working relationships has been key. I’m sure the partnership between Housing21 and Catholic Care will bring real benefits to the future residents of Eller Beck Court, as it will across this Parish and the district.’
