A recent joint venture between two of the ‘Five Towns’ parishes of St Joseph, Castleford and St John the Baptist, Normanton proved to be a real success!
It began when their two parish priests were chatting about things that interested them and this developed into a short series of presentations for the two parishes and beyond!
The talks were held in the Canon O’Grady Hall in Normanton. Fr Mark Naughton, Parish Priest of St John’s and current Prior of the Northumbrian Section of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, gave a talk on the site, development and recent archaeology of the Holy Sepulchre (the tomb of the Lord) in Jerusalem.
Canon John Aveyard, Parish Priest of St Joseph’s, gave the next two talks on the development of the Eucharist from the Last Supper to the present day.
The series of presentations, under the title Beginning with Jerusalem, were well attended and appreciated by those who went along – and all agreed: ‘It goes to show that things are better together!’
