The 2018 GDPR says that all organisations have to follow strict rules around data protection and that religious organisations are no exception. Therefore, the Diocese has a duty to follow the regulations. Our Data Protection Officer is the person responsible for ensuring that we are compliant with the GDPR legislation. Please be reassured that whenever you provide personal data to us, your information will be dealt with properly in accordance with the GDPR legislation.
We need to collect personal data to enable us to carry out our activities from baptisms to funerals and general pastoral care. It is important that you can trust us with your data; when you provide us with any personal information we will respect your privacy and ensure we keep your information safely. The information we collect is for a legitimate purpose; which is the pursuance of the Roman Catholic faith.
Many of our records are historic documents for example baptism and marriage registers and we can assure you that this information is held securely.
