Welcome to the Leeds Diocesan Youth Service
“You, dear young people, are not the future but the now of God.”
Pope Francis – World Youth Day Panama 2019
The Diocese of Leeds Youth Service seeks to evangelise, encourage personal relationship with Our Lord, to build character and inspire, to provide opportunities for fellowship, to deliver faith formation, to promote discipleship and to integrate our young people into the life of the Church. We try to do this by running the Faith in Action Award Scheme, supporting Parish youth groups, Lay Chaplains in our schools and holding youth events as well as giving young people in our diocese, the opportunity to get involved faith building events at local, regional, national and international levels.
Due to the current circumstances surrounding Covid-19, many of us are settling into a new routine: trying to do any work or studying from home, finding ways to stay motivated, staying connected with our friends and loved ones online, maybe even struggling to find the best place to work. With everything that is happening, shops closing, events being cancelled, schools closing etc. it’s very easy for us to focus on the negativity, the fear and the unknown but this is a great oportunity for us to be positive, stay motivated and particularly pray for each other!
Pope Francis is encouraging us all to pray and he has shared a ‘Prayer for Protection from Coronavirus.’
Bishop Marcus has also written a message to all teachers, parents, support staff, governors and students around the country. You can read it by clicking here!
