Curia

The Diocese is administered through the Diocesan Curia, based at our Pastoral, Conference and Retreat Centre, Hinsley Hall.  The Curia consists of clergy, officers, and full time professionals who assist the Bishop in the governance of the Diocese, especially in directing pastoral activity, and the exercise of judicial (canonical) power.

Everyone within the Curia and parishes has a key responsibility to ensure good governance across the Diocese of Leeds.  Safeguarding, sound financial management and a healthy and safe environment underpin all the work we do.  The Charity has a strong team of lay people.   These are professionals who support the clergy in their mission.  In addition to secular governance, the Chancery and Tribunal support other departments and individuals on matters of Canon Law.

The Curia’s role is to ensure our future is financially sustainable and that, as a Charity, we meet all our statutory and charitable obligations.  This is consistent with our clear and genuine commitment to serving and supporting both clergy and laity.   This work respects diversity of opinion, facilitates projects, acknowledges effort, communicates appreciation and highlights success.
