Primary Pupils Gather for Adoration in Huddersfield and Dewsbury

Last week, primary school children from across Kirklees and Calderdale visited All Saints’ Catholic College, Huddersfield, and St John Fisher Catholic Academy, Dewsbury, to spend time in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Throughout the day, pupils from both high schools welcomed the visiting children, guiding them into the chapel where they spent quiet time in prayer before the Lord. Many brought their own school prayer petitions, placing them before the Blessed Sacrament with great reverence.

The sessions also included a short reflection led by the school chaplaincy groups and Lay Chaplains, helping the children to deepen their understanding of Eucharistic Adoration and to reflect on Christ’s real presence in their daily lives.

David Hymas, Head of Governance and Lead for Catholic Life at the Blessed Peter Snow Catholic Academy Trust said: ‘Thank you to Lay Chaplains Stacy Rhys-Hill and Elly Fiddler for organising these days of prayer! Opportunities like this strengthen the links between our primary and secondary communities and allow younger pupils to meet students who once walked in their shoes. It was also encouraging to see governors in attendance, supporting their schools and sharing in this time of prayer.’

These Adoration days will take place again during Lent on 11 and 12 March 2026
