New Diocesan Bereavement Ministry launched at St Jeanne Jugan Parish

News from St Jeanne Jugan Parish, Leeds:
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:5
At the end of parish Mass at St Urban’s Church on the first Sunday of Advent 2022, Parish Priest Fr Gerard Kearney introduced a new diocesan-wide Bereavement Ministry to support parishes as they seek to enable effective witness of loving and compassionate lay service before, during and after the death of loved ones.
The bereavement ministry was initiated by the Sisters of the Cross and Passion at the Briery Retreat House, Ilkley, and is generously supported by Bishop Marcus.
Fr Gerard also introduced and commissioned Breda Theakston (pictured with Fr Gerard), who has completed the Grief Companions training course and can now begin to accompany anyone who is suffering loss, from whatever age and situation from pregnancy through to the oldest age.
All interested in this ministry please contact Fr Gerard or go to the Briery website to find out more  https://www.briery.org.uk/elizabeth-prout-bereavement-care/
