Warm Space Wednesdays at St Urban’s this Winter!

St Urban’s Catholic Church in Headingley has always been a warm and welcoming place – and now it’s official, as the church joins the Leeds ‘Warm Spaces’ scheme!

Warm Spaces are places where people can gather for free in a warm, safe, welcoming place and maybe enjoy a hot drink and some company.

Starting on Wednesday 30 November and each Wednesday between 2 and 3pm, anyone of any age, any faith or none is welcome to spend time in the wheelchair-accessible, child-friendly environment of the parish hall at St Urban’s Catholic Church, Grove Road, Headingley, LS6 2AQ.

Facilities include:
Parking
Loos (including an accessible loo)
and FREE hot drinks of tea, coffee and hot chocolate!

… and for an extra hour of warmth, plus a chance to discuss faith and the Bible, why not come to St Urban’s an hour earlier where their Bible Group meets between 1 and 2pm? Nine people including Parish Priest Fr Gerard Kearney stayed on after the first Bible Group – and some had even brought mince pies to share with members of other Christian denominations and local people visiting the ‘Warm Space’ at St Urban’s.

If YOUR parish anywhere in the Diocese of Leeds is intending to open its doors as a ‘Warm Space’ this Winter, please let us know by contacting communications@dioceseofleeds.org.uk!

… and this story will feature again in a bumper issue of the ‘Diocese of Leeds Annual Review’ which is currently being compiled. To be available online and also printed in hard copy in January 2023, this year’s ‘Biennial’ Review will contain highlights of 2021 and 2022’s good news from the parishes, schools and charities which together make up our ONE Diocese of Leeds.

So please give YOUR good news a chance to evangelise and inspire others across our communities and beyond by sending brief details and a photograph to communications@dioceseofleeds.org.uk!
