Episode 5 of ‘The Carer’s Tale’ out now on Caritas Leeds YouTube.

‘The Carer’s Tale’ is a series of short clips from an interview with Maureen Crossley which may help, comfort or inspire people ‘living well’ with dementia and those who love and care for them.

Maureen and her late husband Mike were members of the Caritas Leeds Dementia Forum in the Diocese of Leeds. They got involved in telling their story for a ground-breaking book, ‘Journeying Together: accompanying people living with dementia’ by Deacon Joseph Cortis and Pia Matthews. The book is published by Redemptorist Publications and available to order here: https://www.rpbooks.co.uk/journeying-... and was launched on 27 June 2023 with the kind support of our partners at Leeds Church Institute: https://lcileeds.org/

In this short weekly series, Maureen tells just some of her story of accompaniment along life’s pilgrim way …

This week, friends rally round to help send Mike and Maureen to Lourdes – but there are fears for Mike’s safety as his condition becomes increasingly serious…

Next week … in the sixth and last video in this series: care home versus care at home? Mike and Maureen’s quality of life is enhanced by the co-operation and kindness of their Parish Priest and local charities the SVP and the Catenians, working together as a caring community and living the Caritas Leeds motto ‘Faith through Loving Service’!
