Congratulations to all at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School in Holbeck: the latest of our schools to receive ‘Outstanding’ ratings from Ofsted!
The school, which is part of the St Gregory the Great Catholic Academy Trust, was judged to be ‘Outstanding’ in the areas of Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development; Education, Leadership and Management and Early Years Provision were all rated ‘Good’.
The Inspectors’ report said: ‘St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School is an oasis at the heart of the community. Pupils love to attend this caring school where everyone is made to feel welcome.’
‘Pupils in the school delight in the opportunity to support their peers. Year 6 pupils fulfil their buddy role with a sense of responsibility and pride.’
‘The school has very high expectations for all pupils. This includes the high proportion of pupils for whom English is an additional language. Pupils are highly motivated.’
All the school’s pupils ‘benefit from a broad and ambitious curriculum … Children in early years get off to a strong start in their education. The school has identified the key vocabulary and questions that adults should use to develop children’s learning.’
With reading ‘at the heart of the curriculum’, pupils develop a love for books and storytelling – and the school’s own story is a real credit to Head Teacher Vera Snejberkova-Taylor. She joins other Catholic Primary Heads whose ‘Outstanding’ schools have recently placed them amongst Leeds’ ‘Top Twenty’. These include St Francis’ fellow primary school in the Parish of St Maximilian Kolbe, St Anthony’s in Beeston, and also St Mary’s in Rothwell, where Headteachers – and sisters – Lisa and Siobhan Leonard have both celebrated Outstanding Ofsted Reports earlier this year.
We appreciate the inspiring work and commitment of all our Catholic school leaders and staff – and the achievements of the young people who are such a credit to them!
