St Aidan’s Church, Mirfield held their annual dinner on the 9th February at Crossley Fields School, hosted by the St Vincent de Paul Society.

After John Devine welcomed everyone, Fr Patrick, the Parish Priest, said grace. Once everyone had eaten, the guests were treated to some excellent entertainment from David Hinckley who played the piano, and ‘In Accord’, the Batley based keyboard and vocals duo.

The event was a great way for the parish and local community to work together to serve others. Parishioners worked hard to prepare the hall and the food and to transport those who needed it to the Church.

The wonderful meal was cooked by Bev France from Crossley Fields School, and the beautiful centre pieces on the tables were made by Donna who volunteers with the SVP at Our Lady and St Paulinus.

Generous donations from Mirfield Round table, Mirfield rotary club, and a second collection made the dinner possible. Grantham’s Bakery supplied bread rolls free of charge and Haigh’s Farm Shop and Ramsden’s Butchers very kindly provided significant discounts on the food they supplied.

Yet again, the dinner was a success as, despite the wintry weather, seventy people attended!
