St Joseph’s Flowers for the Queen

Pupils and staff at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Harrogate were able to have flowers laid outside Buckingham Palace to commemorate Queen Elizabeth, without ever leaving their classrooms!

Year 1 teacher Abbie Phillips’ parents travelled down to London, all the way from their home in Glasgow, to pay their respects to the Queen. They kindly took flowers with them, accompanied by a card which read:

‘It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our beloved Queen Elizabeth. Sincerest condolences from all at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Harrogate. x’

The floral tribute contained white ‘Yorkshire’ roses, as well as red roses, the symbol of love – in keeping with the school’s motto from 1 Corinthians16:14:

Let all that you do be done in love’.
