Yesterday evening, Cardinal Vincent Nichols was one of the senior faith leaders invited to Buckingham Palace for an audience with King Charles.
The Cardinal assured the King of the Catholic community’s continuing and heartfelt prayers for his mother, and the King was keen to ensure that the Catholics of England and Wales knew of his thanks and gratitude for their prayers during this time of mourning.
In his speech, the King pledged to respect the distinctiveness of each of the diverse ‘cultures, traditions and beliefs’ of our communities and held up ‘freedom of conscience, generosity of spirit, and care for others’ as key virtues on which society thrives.
