Leeds Catenians: Out with the Old and in with the New…via Zoom

As with all Circles, the end of the Catenian year at Leeds 3 and the City of Leeds (137) didn’t go as planned. The final meetings of the Circles were cancelled because of the public health crisis but, after research by one of the Brothers, both the first Council meeting and the inaugural meeting of the new City of Leeds (3) Circle went ahead on 15 April using Zoom video conferencing.

Although, the actual inauguration will be held when it is safe to do so, Circle followed the normal format. Prayers were offered especially for the sick and those in the NHS front-line. Past President Dick Moreland of 137 was able to announce that he was able to pass on £3,000 to his chosen charity – The Little Sisters of the Poor.

There is a general consensus amongst Brothers that with “fine tuning” the future of Circle meetings during this difficult period is secure and there are thoughts are of possibly taking it further when normality resumes. Streaming meetings to Brothers unable to participate is now possible. If a Mass from Rome can be streamed, why not a Circle meeting from Leeds?

Catenians. Friendship, Faith and Family.
