The Catholic Church across Yorkshire's historic West Riding since 1878

June is Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month!

The Universal Church is characterised by its strength in diversity – and the Bishop and Diocese of Leeds are proud to mark Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month in solidarity with these communities who for centuries have blessed the Catholic Church with their devout faith and rich traditions!

Throughout this month, you can follow the Photography Trail around West Yorkshire – and find out more about the history, culture and faith of our Gypsy, Roma and Traveller parishioners and students in our Catholic parishes, schools and colleges!

Schools! Whether or you have pupils known to be from the Gypsy, Roma or Traveller communities, the charity Leeds GATE has produced a fascinating educational History Month Pack for Primary Schools – it’s FREE to download by clicking this link!

Blessed Ceferino Giménez Malla, Patron of Gypsies, Roma and Travellers: pray for us!
