Canon Pat Wall, the Parish Priest of St John Henry Newman, Leeds was installed as a Canon of the Leeds Cathedral Chapter during a concelebrated Mass led by Bishop Marcus on Wednesday 25th October.
Canon Wall has been a priest of the Leeds diocese since his ordination in 1991. Prior to his appointment to East Leeds in 2016 he had been a Parish Priest at Christ the King, Bramley, Leeds and at St Francis, Eccleshill in Bradford. As a Chapter Canon, Canon Wall also becomes a member of the Bishop’s College of Consultors.
A large congregation was present in the Cathedral to witness Canon Wall’s Installation and to offer him their congratulations, including family and friends, parishioners past and present, and students and staff from Corpus Christi and St Theresa’s Primary Schools and Corpus Christi Catholic College. Also present were members of the the Knights of St Columba as Canon Wall is the Chaplain to the KSC Leeds Province.
Canon Wall’s appointment follows on from the retirement earlier this year of Canon Eugene McGillycuddy, who was one of the concelebrating priests at the Mass of Installation.
