Police Presence at St Peter’s!

A group of 70 Police Cadets joined the congregation attending Mass at St Peter’s Church in Bradford this week.

The visit was part of West Yorkshire Police’s Faith Awareness Training. Each month officers are sent on the Faith Trail, which starts at St Peter’s Church in Laisterdyke in the Parish of St Mary.

The Cadets were there to learn how best to show respect in church and to Bradford’s Catholic community as well as to find out something of the history and context of different faiths in the city’s highly populated ‘Leeds Road corridor’.

The Police Cadets were accompanied by three unexpected visitors who turned out to be members of Michael Gove’s London-based ‘Levelling Up’ team!

Many thanks to parishioner John Joyce for sending in this story and photograph to communications@dioceseofleeds.org.uk.
