The national charity Friends of Cathedral Music (FCM), has pledged to support individual vocal training for the Leeds Cathedral School Choral Scholars through an endowment grant of £30,000. This grant will make high standard training accessible to young people aged between 12 and 18, developing essential musical skills that will be used in daily Liturgies, concerts, broadcasts and recordings.
FCM was founded in 1956 to support, raise standards, and increase public awareness and appreciation of the living tradition of cathedral music. More than £4 million has been given to cathedral, church and collegiate chapel choirs, endowing choristerships, and maintaining the cathedral tradition of choral worship.
The Diocese of Leeds Music Department would like to express their sincere thanks to FCM for continuing to support the children and young people within the Diocese.
