BBC Radio 3 Choral Vespers – LIVE from Leeds Cathedral!

On Wednesday 31 January at 4pm (repeated at 3pm on Sunday 4 February), the Senior Boys, Senior Girls, Schools Scholars and Choral Scholars of Leeds Cathedral Choir join forces in a broadcast of Choral Vespers live from Leeds Cathedral on BBC Radio 3 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001vll7).

Director of the Schools Singing Programme, Thomas Leech, says: ‘The Cathedral choir nurtures our young singers’ faith and in turn they give back to the Church the beauty and holiness of the great heritage of Catholic music, making this a living and vibrant contribution to the Cathedral’s worship. It’s a great privilege and responsibility for them to share the excellence of our Singing Programme live on the prestigious national platform of BBC Radio 3.’

Children join the seven cathedral choirs from our whole-class singing sessions (https://www.dioceseofleedsmusic.org.uk/schools-singing-programme/) in over twenty state schools across the city; on Wednesday the broadcast will include pupils from Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School, Mount St Mary’s Catholic High School, Notre Dame Sixth Form College, Corpus Christi Catholic College, St John Fisher’s Catholic High School, and Immaculate Heart of Mary, St Paul’s, Corpus Christi and St Urban’s Primary Schools.

We are enormously proud of all our choristers who have worked hard to prepare for this prestigious event and are grateful to all the parents, carers, teachers, leaders, and supporters who help us to make opportunities like this possible.
