Towards the end of 2019 the PTA at St Joseph’s Primary School in Batley Carr raised funds to create a pathway around the perimeter of the school field so that pupils could walk a mile a day, and help to improve their physical, social, emotional and mental health well-being.
The pathway was completed at the beginning of December and the official opening was reported in the Dewsbury Reporter. The article is available to read here;

The project at St Joseph’s was inspired by the Daily Mile initiative which is supported by among others the former Olympic athlete Colin Jackson who says, ‘I believe The Daily Mile will have a huge impact on young people’s lives, helping children across the UK to be fitter, healthier and happier ….. and hope that every child has the opportunity to take part in this fantastic initiative’.
