Much to the delight of Cardinal Nichols and Bishop Marcus, an all-new Catholic online newspaper The Universe Catholic Weekly will be launched on Friday 8 October.
The paper is the successor to the former Catholic Universe and is owned by one of our own Diocese of Leeds parishioners. Stories from our diocese are warmly encouraged and the Editor in Chief, Diocese of Leeds Communications and ‘The Twelve’ will be collaborating on an initiative aimed at giving opportunities to young Catholics with an interest in journalism and Communications.
The aim of the new publication is simple: to give Catholics the chance to read about this country and the world through the lens of our faith. As well as national and international news there will be features, opinion and Education pages published every Friday. The Chair of our Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission, John Battle, will be a regular columnist, and ‘Around the Parishes’ will return, avid for your news from your parish or school!
When informed of the new publication, Cardinal Nichols asked to sign up as the first subscriber! Why not follow the Cardinal’s lead to get full access to the website for a quarterly subscription of just £20.
Bishop Marcus said, ‘I strongly support high-quality Catholic journalism such as The Universe Catholic Weekly, and the opportunities it affords to evangelise through promoting our own ‘Good News’ across the Universal Church.’
If YOU have a story, why not share it with Catholics across the Universal Church in The Universe Catholic Weekly by emailing details (ideally with a photograph or two) to andy.drozdziak@universecatholicweekly.co.uk
