Leeds Universities Chaplaincy News!

Bishop Marcus visited Leeds Universities Chaplaincy on Sunday 3 March – and saw for himself how our CathSoc members are active in their faith and in the community!

Bishop Marcus’ visit to the Leeds Universities Chaplaincy

Catholic students attending universities in Leeds get around – whether as our Cathedral Choral Scholars or attending as delegates at the recent National Schools Singing Programme Conference at Hinsley Hall … but always supporting each other’s academic and artistic endeavours!

Fr Marc Homsey is Catholic Chaplain across all the Universities in Leeds and a few days after the Bishop’s visit was delighted to see a huge CathSoc and Diocese of Leeds turnout at Leeds Becket’s Media Centre for the showing of three MA students’ films, including one directed by our own Cathedral parishioner, Jithu Raj: Taste of Home.

The film is about how food and recipes from a person’s homeland prompts stories and memories – and featured interviews with people from around the world, including Catholics from our Diocesan Family who originally hail from Ireland, Italy, France and Pakistan. Most of the contributors are parishioners at St Jeanne Jugan Parish in Leeds and the Little Sisters from Mount St Joseph’s also came to the screening to congratulate Jithu.

Fr Marc says: ‘If you would like to be part of our Chaplaincy Team, there are currently two job vacancies at the Leeds Universities Ecumenical Chaplaincy which are advertised under ‘Vacancies’ on this website: one is for the CHAPLAINCY SERVICE MANAGER and there’s also a STUDENT OUTREACH WORKER role suitable for a recent graduate – but please hurry: the closing date for applications is 11 April!’
