FREE Concert – Pergolesi’s ‘Stabat Mater’ for the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows
September 15, 2022 @ 6:45 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us at Leeds Cathedral for a full performance of Pergolesi’s setting of the Stabat Mater, sung by the Cathedral’s Senior Girls’ Choir, with guest soloists and accompanied on historical instruments by string players from Baroque in the North and Cathedral Assistant Organist David Grealy, and conducted by Thomas Leech.
The ‘Stabat Mater’ is traditionally sung on the memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows on September 15th – Pergolesi’s setting was written shortly before his death aged only 26 and is music of great beauty.
The choir is also singing for Mass in the Cathedral at 5.30pm, after which the performance will be at 6.45pm and will last for about 40 minutes.
Admission to the concert is FREE and we thank Leeds Music Education Partnership for their funding of this opportunity for our young singers!
