Assessment

The Department of Education and Formation of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales sets general guidelines for the manner in which religious education is assessed in all Catholic schools in England and Wales. In light of changes to assessment in other subjects, the Bishops’ Department of Education and Formation has approved for use an interim standards document.

ASSESSMENT EXPECTATIONS

The documents which follow give an overview of The Way, the Truth & the Life (WTL) religious education programme and apply the interim standards to the WTL producing End of Unit and End of Year Age Related Expectations. The sequence of concepts taught through the WTL religious education programme is also included below. Diocesan primary schools are asked to use these expectations until the new Religious Education Directory comes into force.

Religious Education Subject Leaders and teachers are asked to study the documents. These Age Related Expectations are to be used from September 2020.
