Safeguarding

The governing body of any diocesan schools must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people expecting all staff and volunteers to share that commitment.

Safeguarding requirements in schools are the same no matter what type of school it is, a church school, an independent school or a local authority community school. In each case the school is required to have a child protection policy and a safeguarding policy available on the school website. Governors are required to read the guidance  – Keeping Children Safe in Education and compliance with this should be recorded through the minutes. Any queries on safeguarding should be directed to the education team and not to the diocesan safeguarding office.
