Religious Education Programmes
Key Stage Three
Each Religious Education Department within diocesan Secondary schools write their own programmes of study for Key Stage 3. A variety of resources are used, some of which appear below.
Key Stage Four
All diocesan Secondary schools follow a GCSE specification at Key Stage 4. Schools teach all pupils Catholic Christianity and Judaism as the second religion.
Key Stage Five: the Sixth Form
All students in the Sixth Form follow a course of religious education. These courses are devised by each Department of Religious Education and typically include further teaching on Catholic Christianity, other religions, social and moral issues and responses to these. Schools and colleges can opt to teach their Core Religious Education through an accredited course at Level 1, 2 or 3. The most popular accredited provider is the National Open College Network (NOCN).
