Leadership Recruitment

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3,15).

Recruitment of school leaders is one of the most important tasks that trust boards and governors carry out in schools. It is important that any school governance prepares carefully in order to carry out a professional recruitment process and to show the school in its best light. As soon as a resignation is received from a headteacher or deputy headteacher, the chair of governors or headteacher must inform the diocesan director of education before taking any further steps. The diocesan team are well experienced in executive recruitment and will provide support to a governing body in determining any changes to the leadership structure, drafting an appropriate advert after a governors visioning exercise, designing an effective recruitment process and supporting new members of staff in making the transition to the new school. In conjunction with the other Northern diocese, induction days and residential are held for new staff.

We always welcome conversations with any teaching staff looking to lead a Catholic school whether or not you a have previously taught in a Catholic school as long as you are a practising Catholic. Such conversations will be treated confidentially.
