Bishop Marcus Blesses Beeston’s New Organ

At 5pm on Sunday 11 October, Bishop Marcus, assisted by Fr Sean Crawley and Fr Timothy Whitwell (Parish Priest of St Maximilian Kolbe Parish) blessed the newly-installed organ at St Anthony’s Church, Beeston, before Benjamin Saunders (Diocesan Director of Music) gave a recital.
The programme contained a lively variety of music and was entitled From Tudor to Tangowith repertoire including:
Galliarde & The Carmans Whistle – William Byrd (England 1542-1623)

Metamorphosis II – Philip Glass (United States 1937-)

Florita – A Tango – Ronald Willis (England 1969)

Estampie (oldest piece of keyboard music in UK) – Robertsbridge Codex (c.1325)

Sonata in C – Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (Italy 1710-1736)

Waltz No. 2 – Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975)

Sentimental, Chiquilin de Bachin & Libertango – Astor Piazzolla (Argentina 1933–1990)
