Ryan Wilkinson – A Third Time Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection (20:17-19)

Who or what in the passage draws your attention?

The thing that draws my attention is the fact that Jesus keeps foreshadowing the upcoming events as he stops the disciples on their journey to tell them once again that he will die and be raised from the dead.

What do you find most challenging in this passage?

Jesus already knows what will happen to him and he goes into such detail about what is to come as he tells the disciples. The thing that’s most challenging is that even though Jesus knows what is going to happen, he still faces this.

Which part of this passage brings you encouragement, comfort, or hope?

Jesus tells the disciples that he will die, but his resurrection will follow. This brings a great sense of hope, particularly thinking as one of the disciples at that time that they will be reunited with their friend after everything that will happen.

Demi Morris – Jesus’ Teaching on Forgiveness (18:21-2)

Who or what in the passage draws your attention?

The fact that Peter appears to need to exactly how many times he should forgive a person, before not accepting an apology.  I know I sometimes feel that some people take advantage of my kindness.

What do you find most challenging in this passage?

Jesus’ teaching that we should keep on forgiving as long as another person needs it.  This is often difficult.

Which part of this passage brings you encouragement, comfort, or hope?

To know that God will always forgive the mistakes I make.
