Liturgy of the Word with Chidren

The key aim of this ministry is to proclaim the gospel of the day to the young in a way that is best understood by them.

When the parish community gathers together to celebrate Mass, everyone belongs and is welcome: it is very important that young children are not neglected because of their inability to participate or to understand what happens and what is proclaimed in the celebration.

In many parishes there is a Liturgy of the Word with Children, celebrated in a separate place by leaders and parents: here, the gospel is proclaimed and the children are taught, and afterwards return to their families in the main body of the church for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

If you would like to find out more about the Liturgy of the Word with Children in your parish, please contact your priest; if you would like guidance on setting up this ministry in your parish, please explore the resources below, or email education.admin@dioceseofleeds.org.uk if you would like further help.
