On Wednesday 15th March during Mass at the Beda College in Rome, Philip Thornley, a Seminarian for the Diocese of Leeds, received the Ministry of Acolyte.

The Mass was celebrated by Canon Philip Gillespie, the Rector of the College. The Lay Ministries of Lector (Reader) and Acolyte are ministries given to all candidates for Holy Orders and were established by Pope Paul VI in 1973 after his apostolic letter Ministeria Quaedam. The Ministry of Acolyte helps prepare the Seminarian for his eventual celebration of the Mass by deepening his love for, and knowledge of the Eucharist.

Please continue to pray for Philip and our other three seminarians.
