Promoting Vocations
The Vocations Service exists to foster a culture of vocation among young men and women so that they may recognise God’s personal call, whatever that call may be.
There is a Diocesan Discernment Group that meets each month at 6.30pm at different venues during the year (October-June) in order to facilitate this. At these meetings there is usually a talk, an opportunity for prayer and a shared meal.
Fr Stephen Webb, the Vocations Director, engages in various activities in order to promote awareness of vocations around the diocese. These activities include: delivering talks or assemblies at schools, giving input to young people involved in the diocesan youth service and/or preaching on the theme of vocation in a parish setting.
Fr Stephen is also responsible, under the Bishop, for accompanying our seminarians during their formation for the priesthood and supporting them in their search to answer God’s call.
Please pray that many more men may answer God’s call to the Priesthood.
