The Department for Education is currently running a consultation on ending the 50% ‘cap’ on admissions for new free schools.
Bishop Marcus is Chair of the Catholic Education Service (CES). It has been a longstanding objective of the CES to have this ‘cap’ removed since the changes were introduced in 2010.
The consultation is running until 20 June and, notwithstanding the calling of a General Election on 4 July, it is essential that the DfE receives more positive responses than negative ones to have any chance of the ‘cap’ being removed in the future.
There is now a section of the website of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales (CBCEW) which has a short form you can fill in to submit a positive response to the consultation.
We encourage as many people as possible to participate in this campaign – so please follow the link https://www.cbcew.org.uk/lifting-the-faith-schools-cap/ – thank you!
… and please see the poster below for how to find more information from the CBCEW to help us make informed choices as Catholics at the forthcoming General Election on 4 July 2024!
