Welcome to the 2021 Leeds International Organ Festival: LIVE and ONLINE!

Over the next few months, the Leeds International Organ Festival will be LIVE and ONLINE with recitals, podcasts and events.

The Festival, an initiative of Diocese of Leeds Music, has Leeds Cathedral Organist David Pipe as its Artistic Director. Visit the LIOF LIVE website which contains full details of the next few months’ events, which will be available to watch on the Leeds International Organ Festival You Tube Channel.  Five of the recitals will also be live-streamed direct from Leeds Cathedral, where viewers will be able to see the recitalist’s hands, feet and stop selections ‘up close’ in the organ loft: a rare privilege usually only afforded to the page-turner!

The Festival’s ever-popular tradition of interviews with some of the biggest names in Sacred Music continues; this year, the composer and first ever woman to be Master of the Queen’s Music, Judith Weir, will be interviewed via Zoom on Tuesday 8 June by Richard Mantle from Opera North. This interview is kindly sponsored by the Royal College of Organists (RCO) and for those unable to join live (details of how to do that will follow!) the event will be posted to our YouTube Channel a week later.

The full list of players taking part contains both the international and the home-grown; both professionals and those who are learning the organ, piano, accordion, and melodion from the professional tutors on our Keyboard Studies Programme.

Over the last year’s lock-downs, Leeds International Organ Festival has lost vital sponsorship and donations – PLEASE consider supporting us: YOUR secure online donation will help to secure the Festival’s future!
