To Lima with Love: Peru Mission Appeal 2019

On the First Sunday of Advent a collection is taken throughout the Diocese of Leeds for the people of Peru.

Our grants allow young, practising Catholics to complete their University degrees. As trained catechists and youth leaders they go on to enrich their parishes in some of the poorest communities in the world.

SidaVida, associated with the Columban Fathers, supports those affected by HIV and AIDS. Many are refugees from Venezuela. Work protecting women from domestic violence is critical as abusive relationships can lead to infection and difficulty in seeking treatment.

Hanoprem is a welcoming home for adults with special needs, many of whom have been found starving and abandoned on the streets of Lima.

The people of Peru thank you for your generosity – it goes a long way:  directly to the young people who are studying, and to those providing healthcare and loving support for people in need.

The Parish in Lima

Students from the Catholic University Sedes Sapientiae supported by the Peru Commission meet Bishop Marcus whilst attending an English Language course at  Leeds Trinity University in 2018.

To Lima with Love: generous students at St John Fisher Catholic Academy in Dewsbury made a cheerful comforter for Parish Priest Fr Jonathan Hart to present to a sick child in Peru.
