Our Bishop Emeritus, Archbishop Arthur Roche celebrates a birthday with Biblical connotations this week. On Friday 6 March he will mark his seventieth birthday, on the same day that he returns to Rome from the Vatican Curia’s week-long Lenten retreat at the Casa Divin Maestro in Ariccia, a few miles outside the Eternal City and close by Lake Albano.
In wishing Archbishop Arthur a very “Happy Birthday” (or “Buon compleanno”) we hope that Friday evening will allow some time for a suitable birthday celebration.
Later in the year he marks another anniversary as 19 July 2020 will be the forty-fifth anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, by Bishop Wheeler at St Joseph’s Church in Batley Carr.
Congratulations to Archbishop Arthur on both counts and, as they would say in Rome, ‘Ad multos annos!’
