The Sweet Taste of Global Solidarity in Batley Carr!

A good time was had by all at the Leeds Diocesan Mission Mass on Saturday 25 September. It was a great opportunity to thank, and pray for, Missio’s volunteer Local Secretaries and Red Box supporters across the Diocese of Leeds, and also to start preparing for World Mission Sunday, which this year takes place on 24 October.

The Mass was held at St Joseph’s, Batley Carr and was organised by Fr Jonathan Hart (Missio Diocesan Director) along with the Diocesan Mission Team and parishioners of St Joseph’s, including members of the Bishop’s Young Catholics leadership group, The Twelve.

Fr Emmanuel Mbeh MHM, Assistant Priest in the Mill Hill Missionaries’ parish in Sunderland, spoke after Mass, and presentations were made to several long-serving Local Secretaries to mark their dedication and hard work.

This year is Fr Jonathan’s Silver Jubilee of priesthood so a ‘world solidarity cake’ was shared in celebration of his twenty-five years of ministry; he is pictured sharing a sweet slice of solidarity with Fr Emmanuel and parishioners from St Joseph’s!

Ad multos annos!

(…and there will be opportunity to celebrate Fr Jonathan’s and our other Jubilarians’ anniversaries with the return of Mass for our Annual Celebration of Priesthood at Leeds Cathedral on Thursday 28 October at 11.30am…)

Thank you to ALL Missio Leeds supporters of our shared mission across the Universal Church: to ignite God’s love by helping missionaries working alongside communities that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief!

‘The Great Global Cake-Scoff!’
