Samuel Wilson, a Year 9 student at St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy, has received the Evangelisation Trophy for his excellent contribution to the School Chaplaincy.
The parents of Xavier Newman-Burke (2001-2017) donated this annual award in memory of their son. The trophy is for a student whose attributes include being a visible sign of faith: someone whose faith is ‘organic’ and evident in family, school, parish and the local community.
Sam lives his faith in school and at home and is well known in the parishes of the Dewsbury Deanery. He has embraced the Faith in Action Awards and demonstrates his leadership and excellent communication skills to all ages on a daily basis at school and in the parishes in addition to co-ordinating mission teams to deliver assemblies across school. He also trains altar servers and is a regular reader at parish and school Masses.
