St Edward’s Prayerful Preparation for the Jubilee Year!

Pupils at St Edward’s Catholic Primary School in Clifford have answered Pope Francis’ call to create a ‘great symphony of prayer’ in preparation for the Jubilee Year 2025.

The whole school spent a week reflecting on faith, and how prayer is so central to our worship and relationship with God, presenting a delighted Bishop Marcus with a beautiful commemorative book: St Edward’s Catholic Primary School Prayer Week 2024.

Each page of the colourful book explains the various ways in which the children studied their Faith, Scripture and the Psalms during that prayerful week.  Pupils explored the school and grounds, discovering suitable places in which they could pray and finding that some were more conducive to different styles of prayer than others.

Activities included designing stained glass windows, making rosary beads, writing personal litanies and singing hymns. The children also created ‘Prayer Radars’ (circular diagrams with those prayer intentions closest to one’s heart in the middle) and learned about some of the saints, dedicating space to honour a saint in each of their classrooms.
