St Anne’s, Keighley: first church confirmed as open for private prayer!

Congratulations to Canon Michael McCreadie and parishioners of Our Lady of Victories and St Anne’s Parish in Keighley!

Thanks to a wonderful response from parishioners volunteering as stewards, St Anne’s was able to open today, 16 June: the very first church in our diocese to notify us of its opening, and therefore the first name on our List of churches in the Diocese of Leeds open for individual private prayer

Fr Michael said, ‘We had a steady stream of parishioners and it was wonderful to open wide the church doors!’ and that he was reminded of Psalm 122:

I was glad when they said to me,’Let us go to the house of the Lord!’

The plan is for the beautiful AWN Pugin-designed St Anne’s Church to open every day of the week:

Monday – Saturday 10.00am – 12 Noon
Sunday 12 Noon – 2.00pm

However, as is the case with any churches able to open at this time for individual, private prayer, the opening hours are dependent on the availability of at least two stewards who are volunteers, and may be subject to change at short notice – so please always check the parish’s own website and social media on the day you intend to visit!

If YOUR church is confirmed as being permitted to open for individual private prayer, please notify communications@dioceseofleeds.org.uk so that it can be added to the list. Thank you!
