It is with great sadness we announce that Fr Kenneth Hawley died peacefully at home on the evening of Tuesday 22 October.
Please pray for the repose of his soul and for all his family and friends at this time.
Funeral Arrangements
Requiem Mass for Fr Hawley will be celebrated at St Malachy’s Church, Nursery Lane, Halifax HX3 5NS on Friday 22 November at 11am followed by cremation at Park Wood Crematorium, Park Road, Elland, HX5 9HZ.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
Rev Fr Kenneth Hawley RIP
Fr Ken Hawley was born on 26 March 1956. He studied at Ushaw College in County Durham and was ordained as a priest of the Diocese of Leeds by Bishop David Konstant on 3 July 1992. His first appointment was as Assistant Priest in the parish of St Malachy, Halifax from where he moved to St Mary’s, Selby in 1995.
In 1999 Fr Hawley became the Parish Priest of St Brendan’s, at Greengates in Bradford; Two years later he moved to Our Lady of Graces at Kinsley and in 2004 he was appointed Parish Priest of St Peter’s, Belle Isle, Leeds. He was there only for a short period before joining the staff of St Anne’s Cathedral, Leeds. From 2008 to 2011 he served as Assistant Priest at St Winefride’s parish in Bradford. He retired from active ministry due to ill-health in 2011.
