In the December 2023 edition of the Diocese of Leeds Justice and Peace Commission Newsletter, Carol Burns, who represents the Leeds Diocesan Pax Christi Group, details just some of the things Catholics are doing in support of peace in the Holy Land – in addition, of course to our prayers:
• Supporting humanitarian organisations working in Gaza such as Medical Aid for Palestinians and CAFOD.
• Listening to all those who are suffering from whichever side, educating ourselves about the facts, and using many different sources (be alert to fake images on social media; a reliable source is https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world/)
• Learning about support and sharing the many, many examples of non-violent resistance by Palestinian and
Israeli groups.
• Getting involved in public solidarity actions and peaceful demonstrations – e.g. Women in Black (in Bradford and Leeds).
