Fr Tony Rosso’s new podcast on the Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes and St Joseph YouTube channel is of interest not only to parishioners in the Aire Valley, but to the whole Diocese and beyond – and the first episode is out now!
The clear and simple structure of the new feature is what makes it of general and wider relevance … Beginning with the ‘Saint of the Week’ (this week, St Francis of Assisi, whose Feast Day is 4 October), the podcast’s next short segment is ‘Theology 101’ and is related to St Francis’s role as the Patron Saint of Ecology. Fr Tony gives a lively and very accessible explanation of how care for God’s creation and social justice for the poorest is not ‘green politics’, but is actually Biblical, part of living the Gospel and who we are as Christians.
Fr Tony then moves on to just a few Catholic news headlines from around the world – especially those stories which are rarely if ever covered by mainstream news media. That’s followed by quotes and news of the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV – and only at the end of the podcast is there local parish news and events. The whole video is less than ten minutes’ duration on YouTube: an easily-accessed platform most viewed by people across all age groups.
With the amount of work in a busy parish priest’s life, this new podcast is a major undertaking; to ensure a quality, professional-looking broadcast which people will want to watch, subject- and picture-researching, scripting, filming and editing are all very time-consuming tasks! So congratulations to Fr Tony and the Parish for this entertaining and informative initiative that reaches out to the whole Diocese … – and to the world!
The link to the first episode is below – and please do ‘like and subscribe’; this costs nothing but is the best way to make the channel more visible to evangelise the widest possible potential audience!
