Our partners at Leeds 2023: City of Culture are planning to tell stories from Leeds’ industrial past – specifically the many workers in Leeds’ textile manufacturing who lived and worked with a disability.
In collaboration with Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills, disabled curator and activist Gill Crawshaw is creating a LEEDS 2023 exhibition to uncover the stories of disabled textile workers.
Gill and her team are looking for disabled artists based anywhere in West Yorkshire to create new works of art in response to these stories.
There are 6 commissions of £1,500 and 2 micro-commissions of £500 available to each artist or collective, to realise ideas that are original, exciting, relevant, and thought-provoking.
