Huddersfield Parish on the BBC

**STILL AVAILABLE ON BBC iPLAYER**

Diocesan choirs were back on the BBC on Sunday 7 July at 8.10 am, as the Corporation’s flagship Radio 4 religious worship programme broadcast from Holy Redeemer Parish.

Huddersfield Boys, Girls and Youth Choirs conducted by their Music Director, Lucy Appleyard, led the singing, with a congregation of children and teachers from Catholic primary schools from the Huddersfield and Halifax deaneries: St Patrick’s and Our Lady of Lourdes Schools in Huddersfield and Sacred Heart from Sowerby Bridge.  The almost exclusively Catholic repertoire was accompanied on the organ by David Pipe.

The programme was presented by Parish Priest Canon Ian Smith, who also came up with the programme’s theme: Endings and Beginnings.  With some very moving and personal reflections on that theme, the preacher was previous Assistant Priest, Fr Anthony Rosso (Fr Elliott Wright being in Lourdes with All Saints’ School).  Readings from Revelation and St Matthew’s Gospel and intercessions came from parishioners Stella Shyanguya and Rowan Morton-Gledhill.

** Listen again on demand for thirty days after the broadcast via BBC Radio iPlayer. **
