Holy Week and Easter at the Cathedral

For the first time since 2019 the Holy Week and Easter ceremonies this year are being celebrated at the Cathedral free of Covid-19 restrictions.

Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord began with the blessing of the palms by Bishop Marcus in Victoria Gardens before a procession to the Cathedral where Mass was celebrated by the Bishop in the presence of the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Cllr Asghar Khan.

As the saying goes “it was a full Cathedral” for the Chrism Mass of 2022, held on the morning of Wednesday 13 April. It was an uplifting expression of unity and community in the Diocese, as clergy, religious and laypeople gathered with our Bishop for Mass, the celebration of which is the source and summit of the Christian life, not least in times that challenge the Church – both Local and Universal.
