Holy Rosary Hosts Eritrean Celebration

On Saturday 27 February the Church of the Holy Rosary, Chapeltown Road, Leeds was the venue for a Mass to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Eritrean Chaplaincy in the Diocese of Leeds.

It is here that Eritrean Catholics gather on the first and third Sundays of each month to celebrate Mass in the Ge’ez Oriental Catholic Rite, led by their chaplain Fr Ghebreysus Ghebrezghi, known to many as ‘Fr G’ –  especially in the parish of St John Henry Newman, Leeds where he is also Assistant Priest. Fr G also ministers to Eritrean communities in Sheffield and across the Pennines in Salford.

In honour of the anniversary the Mass was attended by Bishop Marcus and the Parish Priest of Mother of Unfailing Help (in which the Holy Rosary church is situated), Canon Matthew Habron.

Liturgically and socially it was a joyous occasion as can be seen from the photo gallery accessible here: https://www.patricksicephotography.co.uk/blog/eritrean-catholic-community-in-leeds
