Holy Father asks for Prayers for Ukraine

Pope Francis has asked that Wednesday 2 March (Ash Wednesday), be observed as day of prayer (especially through the recitation of the Holy Rosary) and fasting for peace in Ukraine.

Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski, Eparchial Bishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the UK, has addressed his community and all people of good will as Russia invades Ukraine, with these words:
‘We place the people of Ukraine under the protection of the Holy Family, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Mother of God and ever-virgin Mary, and the holy and righteous St Joseph the Betrothed.’

We offer a message of prayer, support and solidarity with our Ukrainian brothers and sisters – and for all those across our diocesan community who are concerned for the country, and for their relatives and friends.

Our Lady of Pochayiv: pray for us.

Patrons of Ukraine, St Andrew and St George: pray for us.
