St Augustine’s Parish in Harehills held a well-attended, faith-based ‘Sunday Youth Hangout’ event to ask the young people of the parish what they would like from the Church.
More than 50 young people, aged between 11 and 21 years old, had a fun filled afternoon with activities, worship and food, including a specially-iced cake.

Several of those attending are serving altar servers, choir members, and Ministers of the Word. The sun shone, and the event was enjoyed by all – and Parish Priest Fr Ghebreyesus described the young people’s feedback as, ‘impressive and helpful!’
Some of the topics discussed included ‘Serving the Church: Youth SVP and Parish Ministry’ and ‘Peer Pressure and Social Media’ and there was also a talk on ‘Teenage Life in Ukraine’ by a young parishioner who has recently arrived from Ukraine.
