DESCRIPTION:As the Patron Saint of all Victims and Survivors of Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery\, St Josephine Bakhita (Feast Day 8 February) was kidnapped from her home in Sudan aged just nine and sold into slavery. She is one of our ‘Safeguarding Saints’ – and this is a prayer for her intercession to help us combat these evils and to support and comfort all who have been trafficked\, enslaved or otherwise exploited: \nO God\, who led Saint Josephine Bakhita from abject slavery to the dignity of being your daughter and a bride of Christ\, grant\, we pray\, that by her example we may show constant love for the Lord Jesus crucified\, remaining steadfast in charity and prompt to show compassion.\nAmen. \nFor more information on how the Catholic Church combats Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery\, visit the website of the Santa Marta Group – an alliance of police chiefs and bishops to bring system change to end human trafficking. \nIf someone is in immediate danger\, please call 999.
